PADI Dry Suit Course

Are you interested in safely extending the New England diving season? Would you like warmer dives year round?

Dry suit diving is the perfect answer. Dry suit diving presents some specific challenges, however it is an option open to all Open Water certified divers who seek quality training and wish to stay warmer while diving our cooler waters. To answer the need for this training, Northeast Scuba offers the PADI Dry suit Course, an exciting program taught by our qualified staff. Our course thoroughly covers dry suit diving techniques, emphasizing safety and emergency procedures.

Course Format: The program consists of one evening classroom session and a pool orientation session. Successful completion of two open water dives is needed for certification.

Dry Suit Course Highlights

Academic Presentation: Basic thermal considerations and how you get cold underwater- cold water physiology. A wetsuit or dry suit for your diving? Comparison of exposure suit options, advantages and disadvantages of each. Dry suit construction, types of dry suits, zippers and material. Types of seals and valves. Insulation and undergarments. Hoods, collars, dry gloves. Care, maintenance, storage, packing and repair. Hazards, emergencies and how to cope underwater.

Pool Session: Dry suit donning procedures, preparing to dive, equipment evaluation and buoyancy check. Open water skills in dry suits. Descents, ascents equipment familiarization. Emergency procedures for dry suit diving and assisting your dive partner.

Prerequisite: PADI Open Water Certification or equivalent. Minimum age 12.

Instructional Materials: Your PADI Dry suit Specialty crew pack will contain academic material and a DVD on diving with a dry suit. Use of a dry suit and undergarments are included with the course.

Required Equipment: Students are responsible for providing a complete scuba equipment package, excluding dry suit and undergarments. Specific items are available for rent from Northeast Scuba, with the exception of fins, mask and snorkel.

Tuition: $180.00 plus academic material- $44.95.
